Our story

FNQ Grip was founded to fill a gap on the ground in Port Douglas, Cairns, and surrounds — reliable, professional-grade grip equipment, ready to go locally, without the wait or cost of freighting gear up from the south.

Backed by hands-on experience building sets and running gear on real productions, FNQ Grip brings production-standard equipment and know-how to Far North Queensland — supporting visiting interstate film and photography crews, local photographers building out their portfolios, and schools across the region growing their creative programs.

We work closely with schools running art, media, and film programs — supplying the professional grip gear used to shape and control light on set, so students get hands-on experience with the same equipment used on real productions. Whether it's a short film unit, a photography elective, or a media arts subject, we help teachers put professional tools in students' hands without the cost or complexity of buying kit outright.

Every build is different, so when your production needs a set, we'll put you in touch with the right people — drawn from a trusted network of licensed and insured local FNQ tradespeople, matched to the scale and skillset your build calls for. You engage them directly, with the confidence you're starting with someone who knows their trade and knows the region.

And when the brief calls for somewhere special, our location scouting runs on genuine local knowledge. Rainforest, reef, beaches, cane fields, savannah — Far North Queensland has backdrops you can't build, and we know where to find them, how to get there, and who to ask.

Whatever the shoot, FNQ Grip is here to make sure the gear, the right people, and the right location are sorted — so you can focus on what's in front of the camera.
